Sandra Martinez 2021

First edition 50 Archival Pigment Prints

The original paintings were done with squash, sue me ink, and acrylic on book pages from an 1800s driven missionary text gifted by Sandra's father .Done with contour lines and minimal color, the work was generated during years of elder care as a form of journaling for the artist.

Many of the drawings seem to represent two figures coming together to form one, while maintaining their individuality, influenced by the strong columnar structure of the printed page.

For Martinez, it illustrates the bonded union that is possible between all humans. When love and respect, our chosen, differing perspectives and experiences are not barriers, but invitations, dialogue and understanding.

As part of their 33-year collaboration, a few designs originating from Sandra's code is series have been woven by Wenceslao Martinez including Discusión, Contorno, and Luz.Signed on verso as well.
